As a fashion content creator, I’m constantly trying on clothing for collaborations, seasonal roundups and product reviews. Many pieces are worn only once to film content and then remain in my closet—even though they’re still in like-new condition.

Well, it’s time to make some room and give these looks a new home!

Some pieces don’t need a complicated formula—they just need the right balance. This olive-green skirt already brings the drama with its volume and draped details, so I built the rest of the outfit around that movement.

The result is a tonal army-green look with a fitted olive tube top, cropped camo jacket, camo Falcons cap and a pair of open-toe lace-up booties that bring in an unexpected pop of color.

But this is only one way to style it. Let’s break down why the outfit works and how you can use the same ideas with pieces already in your closet.

I Lost My Job at 57… and It Changed Everything

At 57 years old, I lost my corporate job.

I definitely didn’t see it coming. After years of building a successful corporate career, suddenly that chapter of my life was over.

But here’s the crazy part: losing my job didn’t feel like the end.

In many ways, it felt like the push I needed to finally step fully into something I’d already been building for years—Miko Slays Fashion and my life as a full-time content creator.

In the video below, I’m sharing the real story behind my layoff, what happened afterward, and some of the very practical questions people have asked me, including how I’m paying my bills, what I did about healthcare, and whether my husband supports my decision.

And yes, we’re even going back to my 20s, when I filed bankruptcy twice. 😩 Because believe it or not, some of the hardest financial lessons I learned back then helped prepare me for what happened at 57.

You don’t need new clothes—you may just need a closet remix. I pulled three dresses from my closet and styled each one over pants for three completely different looks.

PRO STYLE TIP: pay attention to volume. A dress with movement can float beautifully over a wider pant, while a fuller dress may work better with a slimmer bottom.

The exact dresses and sage capris are older closet pieces and no longer available, but the Spanx jeans + Amazon wide-leg jeans are shoppable, and I found a similar dramatic white skirt from Akira to help you recreate Look 1. 🤍
