Freetress Cocoa Curl
Freetress Cocoa Curl launched about a month ago, so it’s the newest style from Freetress’s long line of crochet braid styles. I wanted to review this hair because Ms. Marzita B (the Queen of crochet braid reviews!) said it was frizz free and easy to maintain. Historically, I’ve had not so great experiences with FreeTress hair so I was intrigued to find out if this one was low maintenance.
PROS
I’ve been rocking burgundy hair lately so I chose to rock the Freetress Cocoa Curl in the color 1B/530. This color is so bomb! I love the dark root which creates a more natural blend with my natural hair.
This hair has a yaki texture which lends to the low frizz property and makes the hair super easy to knot. Probably the best feature of this hair is that the strands are pre-separated (a first for FreeTress) which significantly reduces the installation time. I used 3+ packs and it only took me 1.5 hours to create this look!
CONS
Despite so many positives about this hair, it’s not my favorite. Reason being the hair looks like cloth or synthetic fiber instead of hair. That doesn’t translate as well in the video, but you notice it as soon as you take it out of the pack. Because of the yaki texture, I also wasn’t able to volumize the hair to get that big hair look I was going for.
Very pretty hair, but the Cocoa Curl is not my favorite. Watch my video tutorial and review for a more detailed review and to see the styling options I created with this hair.
Hi, Moya! I think braiding this hair in would be so CUTE! What a great idea! I think you could definitely braid this hair in. The texture is very conducive to braiding because it doesn’t tangle. Please come back and let us know how it turns out!
Hi. Thanks for your review. I just discovered this hair and want to braid it in (hair is natural) and leave the rest loose. Do you think this hair would be conducive to that? Thanks for your time.
