Her Given Hair 3-in-1 Half Wig Review: My Favorite Protective Style for Natural Hair
Braided Half-Up, Half-Down Twist-Out with the Her Given Hair 3-in-1 Half Wig
This braided half-up, half-down twist-out on the Her Given Hair 3-in-1 Half Wig is everything! It’s one of my go-to protective styles for summer because this Atlanta heat—and these hot flashes—show absolutely no mercy.
When I first got this half wig two years ago, I instantly fell in love with the texture. The coily-curly curl pattern blends seamlessly with my natural hair, making it look like it’s growing right out of my scalp. Even better, it’s incredibly versatile. I can wear it as a half wig, a drawstring ponytail, or a headband wig, giving me multiple looks with one piece.
Two years later, it’s still one of the most reached-for wigs in my collection. That’s saying a lot! It’s low-maintenance, protective, and perfect for those days when I want a natural-looking style without spending hours on my hair.
I typically wear this braided half-up, half-down style for about a month. To keep it looking fresh, I sleep in a satin bonnet (most nights… thanks, hot flashes), oil my scalp once a week, and refresh the braids every 7–10 days. Be sure to watch my braid hack tutorial to see how I freshen up my braids without taking the entire style down.
I’ve linked all of my favorite twist-out products, leave-in conditioners, curl creams, gels, and hair care essentials in my LTK. These are the products I use to keep my natural hair, wigs, and curly styles healthy, moisturized, and beautifully defined.
